Getting your Family into a Healthy Pattern with our Family Dentistry Practice

Oral health has a significant impact on overall health and well being. Your mouth is one of the biggest gateways for germs and bacteria to potentially enter into your body’s systems. How you take care of your gums and teeth has a ripple effect on the rest of your body. Some negative impacts of poor dental hygiene take years to emerge, which is why it’s important that you and your family see us regularly so we can monitor your teeth and gums over time.

We offer a host of preventive care for your family to avoid more problematic and costly issues down the road:

Routine exams: we encourage you to have each family member visit us every six months to get a cleaning and oral exam. During this visit, we look at your teeth and gums to look for any warning signs of infection or decay. Even on appointments without an x-ray, the dentist examines your teeth to look for signs of cavities and other infections.

Dental cleanings: in a routine 6-month cleaning, our staff will clean your teeth by removing plaque and tartar and getting between your teeth with floss. This gives your mouth a fresh start for the next six months. If we notice more severe gum infection, we can also schedule a follow-up appointment for a deeper cleaning beneath the gum line.

X-rays and scans: a full x-ray of all of your teeth is recommended at least annually. This helps us get a deeper look of your teeth and the underlying gums and surrounding tissue. We will advise you and your family members on the right treatments when we identify potential issues. As permanent teeth come in for younger children, we are able to use x-rays to monitor how teeth are coming in and take proactive steps if something isn’t looking right.

Fillings and other treatments: we offer numerous procedures and treatments when tooth or gum decay takes place, such as fillings, castings, root canal therapy, and more. We are especially sensitive to the needs of children as they go through many of these experiences for the first times in their lives.

Preventative treatments: our staff offers additional services like fluoride treatments and dental sealants to help prevent tooth decay and protect teeth, especially for children and teenagers. Children and teens are more likely to get cavities just because of their increased exposure to germs and bacteria and because they are still developing good dental habits. As we notice issues, we talk with parents about different techniques and types of products that can help prevent future issues from emerging.
